Hamburg, 02 February 2026 – As the recent UK court proceedings involving the former master of the MV SOLONG have now come to an end, Ernst Russ would like to acknowledge the court's verdict, which found Captain Motin guilty of the charges brought against him.

Our fullest sympathies remain with the family and loved ones of the missing seafarer, Mark Angelo Pernia, and we hope the conclusion of the legal process brings them a measure of closure during a difficult time.  

From the beginning, our team has fully cooperated with all investigations in the interests of full transparency, justice and respect for all those involved. Within the court proceedings, we note that neither the prosecution nor the defendant made any claims of a mechanical failure onboard the vessel. Out of respect for the judicial process, Ernst Russ will not be making any further comments regarding the trial at this time.
